DESCO RESIDENCE

In a neighborhood known for expansive lots and mid- century rambler style homes, the client aspired to honor the existing fabric of the area in scale, while re-thinking the stylistic treatments of ranch homes in a more contemporary sense.  As for the program, we were tasked with a layout that allowed the second level, comprised of two guest rooms and an entertainment room, to be shut off from the primary use of the residence for extensive periods of time.  As a result, the stair core became an anchor set proud of the primary massing of the residence and structurally hosts a tapered steel canopy, drawing the resident or guest into the entry.
